Association of Dental Anaesthetists and Sedationists
About Us

Founded in 1977 as The Association of Dental Anaesthetists (ADA), we became The Association of Dental Anaesthetists and Sedationists (ADAS) in 2023, reflecting the breadth and diversity of our membership.
Our purpose is to promote the art and science of anaesthesia and sedation in dentistry, whilst providing a forum for discussion, collaboration and the exchange of knowledge among our members.
Our wider role is to ensure sedation and anaesthesia in dentistry are safe and accessible, facilitate patient choice, represent our professional community of doctors, dentists and healthcare professionals, and support their continuing professional development. In doing so, we strive to uphold the highest standards of care and management for dental patients requiring sedation or general anaesthesia.
Throughout the year, we provide opportunities for learning, professional development and collaboration. Our programme includes an annual conference, alongside regular webinars delivered through our Sedation Study Club. Further information about upcoming events can be found on our events pages.
Celebrating 50 Years of ADAS
In 2027, we will celebrate our 50th anniversary with a special Conference on Saturday 13th of March at Hallam Conference Centre, London, under the theme:
“Honouring the Past, Shaping the Future.”
The event will bring together colleagues from across the profession for a day of learning, collaboration and celebration as we reflect on five decades of The Association’s history and look towards the future of dental anaesthesia and sedation.
We would be delighted to welcome you.
